Your pet urinated on your hardwood or floating floor? Some of the urine seeped under the floor, and the hot weather has brought back the smell? Before using all the cleaning products available in your home to try to eliminate the mess and smell, think of D-500 and Uri-Clean. These two products will help you get rid of the smell of urine in your home, permanently.
How to remove fresh cat/dog urine from my wooden floor (that has not seeped under the floor).
If your four-legged friend has just urinated on your wooden floor, and the urine has not yet seeped between the boards, act quickly and remove the urine with a paper towel. Then clean the affected surface of the floor with D-500. In addition to neutralizing the smell of urine, this product cleans your floor.
To clean your wooden floor, simply dilute the D-500 in water (1 oz [30 ml] of the product in 1 quart [1 liter] of water), spray the area where the urine was, and rinse with clear water. This product will leave a pleasant mint odor that will last several hours.
However, even if you take action quickly, some urine may have seeped between the boards and under the floor. To avoid recurring urine odors a few weeks after the incident, it is important to treat the affected area with Uri-Clean.
How to remove the smell of cat/dog urine that has seeped under my wooden floor
Whether the urine has been there for a few days or for several years, Uri-Clean will completely eliminate the smell of animal urine. This product is specially formulated to neutralize odors from animal urine on different materials (such as wooden floors, fabrics, mattresses, concrete or ceramic floors, etc.). Unlike a deodorant which only masks the odor, this neutralizer will remove the urine odor problem permanently. Moreover, since the product is alcohol-based and not water-based, your wooden floor will not be damaged by this product.
To counter urine odors, simply pour the product into a bottle with a spout-like opening, apply the product between the boards and make sure it penetrates well. If the boards are too tightly jointed and the product does not penetrate, use a syringe. Once the product has filtered through the gaps, wipe any excess residue left on the surface. Depending on the intensity of the smell, you may have to repeat the process. It is important to allow a period of 4 to 5 days between applications.
This product is highly appreciated by our customers, and we regularly hear such comments as: “Uri-Clean saved my hardwood floor!” “Even if the urine had been there for years, Uri-Clean completely neutralized the smell!”
