If your dog peed on your living-room carpet or entrance mat, it can be difficult to find a solution to this problem. You might be tempted to use a home-made solution (such as a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, or soda water), but doing this, you risk discolouring your carpet.
You could also call a carpet cleaning expert, however, it’s important to verify that they will use animal urine odour neutralizing agents to tackle the dog or cat pee on the carpet.
To resolve a urine problem on your carpet quickly and efficiently, consider using Uri-Clean!
Simple to use, this product is an alcohol-based odour neutralizer that specifically neutralizes the smell of animal urine. Unlike a deodorant, a neutralizing does not just mask the odour temporarily; it removes it permanently. Moreover, as Uri-Clean is not enzyme-based, it is effective both on urine present only for a few hours and on pee that may have been stagnant for years.
How to remove dog urine from a carpet with underlay
If your carpet is thick, or has an underlay, it is important to use Uri-Clean with a syringe. Indeed, as gravity pulls the urine down, one vaporization of the product might not get to the source of the bad odor. Also, if the urine has been present for several months or years, or if your pet has urinated on a few occasions on the same area, due to gravity, urine can probably be found in the carpet underlay or in the wood base under the carpet. Therefore, it is important to treat this area as well, and not only the carpet’s surface.
To eliminate the smell of dog urine, you need only to determine where there was urine and to draw a circle around the affected area, taking care to widen the circle by 4 to 5 inches (10 to 12 cm).
As the urine may have exceeded the visible area, it is important to treat the problem a little more broadly.
Subsequently, insert Uri-Clean into a syringe and inject the product, applying a downward pressure to target the urine mass. For each injection in the carpet, use 10 cc of the product. Take care to treat the problem from the outside in, at an interval of 1 inch (2.5 cm) between each injection. Finally, spray the urine-affected area with Uri-Clean. Here is a how-to video:
Removing Dog Urine from a Thin Carpet
If the urine is found on a thin carpet, such as a doormat, simply spray Uri-Clean directly on the area where your pet urinated. Let it work for a few minutes and repeat as needed. As the carpet is thinner, urine has a tendency to remain on the surface, therefore, a syringe will not be required.
