Get rid of the smell of cigarettes/tobacco from a car

voiture

Your just purchased a used car, but the previous owners were heavy smokers and the smell of tobacco smoke has impregnated the entire vehicle? Or maybe you want to sell your car but having smoked inside it yourself, the cigarette smell will probably seem very strong to a non-smoker? In either case, it’s a well known fact that the smell of cigarettes will have infiltrated throughout the car, including inside the ventilation system, and on the carpets, seats, plastics, seat belts, etc. But there exists an effective and quick solution to resolve this cigarette odor problem.

SOS Odours has developed a product specifically designed to neutralize the smell of tobacco: SmokEraser. This alcohol-based product neutralizes the odors in depth, even if the smell has been present for several months, or even years. In addition to removing the smell of cigarettes, SmokEraser leaves a pleasant lemon scent that lasts several days.

Step 1 – Eliminate the smell of smoke from fabrics

The first step to eliminating the smell of cigarettes from the inside of a car is to treat the odor that permeates the fabrics (seat belts, car seats, carpet, etc.). To do this, just spray SmokEraser at a distance of 2 to 4 in. (5 to 10 cm) from the surface, and let the product work. Because the seats are thicker, we recommend applying a downward pressure on the surface so that the product can penetrate deep inside the fabric and padding material. If the odor has been present for a long period of time, you may have to repeat the treatment a second time, since the product may not have reached all the fibers of the smelly fabric. It is also possible for the cigarette smell to have penetrated deep inside the seat cushions themselves. It would then be necessary to insert the SmokEraser product inside the seats using a syringe and needle.

For leather seats, we recommend spraying the product on a clean cloth and testing it on an inconspicuous sample area of the seat covering before applying a full treatment. Gently rub the product and let it work. Since leather is an odor absorbing material, a second application may be necessary in order for the odor neutralizing product to penetrate every fiber.

Step 2 – Eliminate the smell from the ventilation system

Plastic materials absorb odors very easily. To remove the encrusted smell from the inside of the car, just spray D-125 diluted into the air vents, turn on the heater for 2-3 minutes and let it work. Generating heat through the ventilation system enables the plastic’s particles to distance themselves, thus releasing the tobacco odor molecule, which, in the end, will allow the neutralizer to treat the problem at the source. Once again, you can repeat this treatment if the smell of cigarettes is still present.

How can you be certain that SmokEraser truly neutralizes the odors and doesn’t just mask them?

As soon as SmokEraser comes into contact with the source of the tobacco smell, it creates a molecular bond with the bad odor particles in order to neutralize them. You will then notice that the smell of tobacco disappears and is replaced by a lemon scent. There will be no mixture of different smells that typically amplify the initial cigarette odor. If you can smell such a nauseating odor, it means that air fresheners have been used, and not neutralizers.
